Containerized RO System for Gas Processing Plant in Texas

Challenge – A large Natural Gas Processing Plant in West Texas experienced multiple water treatment plant upsets due to aging equipment which resulted in the frequent procedure of hauling in RO water in order to keep the plant from going down.

Solution – The plant turned to Expansa to treat the existing well water.  After a review of the plant requirements and existing infrastructure, Expansa designed a water treatment system that would provide amine makeup water along with low pressure boiler makeup water.  In order to reduce installation and lead times the system was containerized. The plant was provided with RO Feed Water Booster Pumps, and a 25 gpm Single Pass RO system.

Results   Expansa responded to the customer’s specific requirements and delivered and installed the containerized unit which prevented the facility from having to haul in water or worry about down time related to water treatment plant upsets.

Long Term Water Processing Agreement for Gold Mine, Nevada

Challenge – A major gold mining operation in Nevada experienced multiple boiler tube failures due to inoperative controls systems on the existing water purification plant equipment.

Solution – With no capex spending planed, plant trusted Expansa to treat variable well water and provide 500 gpm of single pass RO water for 600 PSI boiler feed water makeup.  Customer executed a 24 month agreement with Expansa in order to plan accordingly for a new water treatment plant.

Results   Expansa responded to the customer’s specific and ever-changing requirements throughout the project, which prevented the facility from losing millions of dollars each day.  The plant has operated with 0 down days due to water treatment system upsets or failures for two years all with zero safety incidents.

Containerized RO System for Gas Processing Plant in New Mexico

Solution – The plant turned to Expansa to treat the existing well water.  After a review of the plant requirements and existing infrastructure, Expansa designed a water treatment system that would provide amine makeup water along with low pressure boiler makeup water.  In order to reduce installation and lead times the system was containerized. The plant was provided with 1 micron Automatic Backwashing Screen Filters, RO Feed Water Booster Pumps, and a 50 gpm Single Pass RO system.

Results   Expansa responded to the customer’s specific requirements and delivered and installed the containerized unit which prevented the facility from having to haul in water or worry about down time related to water treatment plant upsets.

Temporary Water for Hydrostatic Testing and Discharge

Challenge – A major oil field producer was required due to re-assessment intervals to hydrotest 125 miles of pipelines located in West Texas.  This particular section of pipeline was located on state land and the state required treatment of the hydrotest water to direct land application discharge standards which involved the reduction of Oil, Grease, Benzene, TSS, TDS and Chlorides.  During the testing, the hydro test water mixed with remaining produced water in the pipeline and the contaminates all became elevated including a TDS of 10,000 µS.  Caught of guard by the elevated contaminates the hydrotest came to a stop until a solution could be proposed.

Solution – The operation was down for seven days before finally contacting Expansa. After reaching out to multiple vendors and none being able to respond rapidly the pipeline operator turned to Expansa to treat the water for discharge.  After a quick review of the requirements and existing infrastructure, Expansa mobilized equipment within 12 hours in order to get the operation restored.  The location was provided with bag filters, organo-clay, activated carbon, and one RO Trailer setup as Single Pass Reverse Osmosis to provide 300 gpm of water for discharge.

Results   Expansa’s rapid response to the customer’s specific requirements throughout the project prevented the operator from losing millions of dollars each unplanned day the pipeline was out of service.  Expansa treated over 15Mgal that was used for irrigation versus disposal.

Rapid Response Mobile Water For 550 MW CCGT Power Plant

Challenge – A 550MW Power Plant in Texas experienced multiple water treatment plant upsets due to pump issues which caused significant production loses in water plant capacity.  Shutdown was not option due to the high power demand on the grid.

Solution – After reaching out to multiple vendors and none being able to deliver next day the plant turned to Expansa to treat the existing water.  After a quick review of the plant requirements and existing infrastructure, Expansa mobilized equipment within 3 hours in order to the meet the customer’s specification.  The plant was provided with pressure control valves, one RO Trailer setup as Double Pass Reverse Osmosis, and coupled with existing DI Trailers to provide 125 gpm of 18 MΩ makeup water for 1500 PSI HRSGs.

Results   Expansa responded to the customer’s specific requirements throughout the project, which prevented the facility from losing millions of dollars each day while also saving on water cost to due our improved recovery rates.  While awaiting the repair and installation of multiple components, the plant operated for two months with zero down days due to water treatment systems all with zero safety incidents.

Temporary Water for Phosphate Reduction in Lagoon Texas

Challenge – A provider of water parks in North Central Texas needed to cleanup water for filling a large recreational swimming lagoon after the supply well water was found to be contaminated with high levels of phosphate which would have caused large algae blooms without removal of phosphate.

Solution – Facing a tight deadline, customer trusted Expansa to treat brackish waters to reduce TDS including phosphate, and provide 300 gpm of single pass RO water direct to the lagoon.

Results   Expansa responded to the customer’s specific requirements and treated over 35Mgal of water without interruption allowing the operator to open the park five days ahead of schedule.
