Rapid Response For 550 MW CCGT Power Plant

Challenge – A 550 MW Power Plant in New Mexico experienced an RO system failure due to pump system failures. Shutdown was not option due to the high power demand on the grid.

Solution – After exhausting multiple mobile demineralized trailers within 12 hours the plant turned to Expansa to treat the existing well water. After a quick review of the plant requirements and existing infrastructure, Expansa mobilized several pieces of equipment with in 12 hours in order to the meet the customer’s specification. The plant was provided with Booster Pumps, Double Pass Reverse Osmosis, Electro-Deionization (EDI), and DI Exchange Tanks to provide 125 gpm of 18 MΩ makeup water for a 1500 PSI HRSGs.

Results – Expansa responded to the customer’s specific requirements throughout the project, which prevented the facility from losing millions of dollars each day. While awaiting the installation of new pumps, the plant operated for two months with zero down days due to water treatment systems all with zero safety incidents.
